Hi, though my mother's family knows it came from Toda village in rajasthan, all my father's family knows is that they came from this village (?) called Shahpur. We are chauhans (Gotra vats/ vachhas) and recently a bunch of my cousins discovered a very old log in my late grandfather's books, which holds entries related to property our family held in shahpur. The log / diary is nearly 200 years old (dates 1824)and, of course, we are not interested in a treasure hunt. But it sparked our curiosity and we asked my dad and uncles if they had any idea about it. They claim to have heard from the family poet (the village bhaat) about the family's migration from shahpur when the neighbouring rajah sent his army to annex shahpur from my family. It is said that the family took on the gotra vats as their surname to camouflage themselves amongst the brahmins of haryana and confuse the rajah who was out to erase the family. Can you help us locate our roots?

Hi i belong to ghazipur district , as you may be aware there is a village called gahmar which boosts to be largest village in asia , and home to huge rajput community . Thaey claim to be sakarwar rajputs , migrated from sikar after battle of khanua . Could you throw some light on this theory
I have seen a number of the requests pertain to the identification of the classic roots of the particular rajput clan or gotra... Any infomation you can provide to substantiate some of the preliminary details will help me identify the exact Gotra/Kul/clan. E.g. Anonymous from Shahpur - Can you provide additional details on districts/ names etc.. that will help serve as a reference point. If you could include your grandfathers log (verbatim) that would be helpful. The Gakar Rajput - Please provide alternate spellings or location of birth/ family village.
Rohit, Could you provide additional detail about the rajput constituents of "gahmar"? Typically - East UP villages have a number of gotra's with one primary gotra. This is prmarily due to the migration and return of daughters - which creates the diversity in an otherwise stagnant poulation caused by our patriarchal approach. The identity of any non-"sakarwar" rajput population will help shed liht on the real identity of the majority thakur class.
Hello sir, I am VIKAS SINGH from CHARAUHAN (POOREY PARSAN) Village in PARASPUR thaana in Gonda district. This place is located on COLONELGANJ to NAWABGANJ road. I am a KALHANS thakur. I found history of almost every rajput clan on internet but not of kalhans. Some elderly people say that we KALHANS belong from SISODIYA and our ancestors came from Rajasthan to U.P. At this particular place. But I want to know more details. If you could help me. That will be so kind of you sir.

The chief of this clan was ruler of Bhadawar State(this state is in Bhind District of MP(town name is Ater) before 1947 AD. There is a big fort in ater near bhind built by the Bhadawar kings. Are Dikhit thakurs a branch of Sisodiya clan?many of my elders told that dikhits were send by the sisodiya to collect money,raise army and create awareness against the mughals during the time of maharana pratap.as they preached a lot they were given nick name as dikhit.my gotra is bharadwaj of Dikhit thakur but due to recent findings by a writer they tell its Kashyap gotra coz of the region where we live.but my ancestors used bharadwaj gotra since ages.please clear my doubt about my gotra and about dikhit thakurs.i am from fatehpur district UP.

I am also from Gahmar. We (Sikarwar) are the branch of most ancient Rajput clan Bargujar(Raghav). We are one of 36 main clan of rajputs. Our gotra is sankriti/sankritya in ghazipur,buxar,rohtash & arrah. Bhardwaj in chambal morena & Agra. We use to worship Maa Kamakhya.
Please note that Gahmar is largest village of Asia & of Rajputs as well. Dominated by Sikarwar Rajputs. There are many village of Sikarwar rajputs in ghazipur, buxar, bhabhua,rohtash & bhojpur (arrah) district. There is a chaurasee (group of 84 villages) in bhojpur district.

Bhai my name is SHALENDRA PRATAP SINGH DIKHIT. We are not sisodiya Rajputs. But we are of solar rave, Suryavanshi like sisodiya, rathor ,kacchwaha Rajput. DIKHIT Rajputs main gotra is kashyap but Dikhit Rajputs have other gotra as bhardwaj , kausik etc. Depending on the region.

Hello ,I am Vikram Singh from (atta) Paraspur district gonda.i am also a kalhans thakur.when I did some research on the rajput clans and mainly on kalhans Thakur I found that kalhans Thakur is coming under pratihara vansh which is a clan of ichvakuvansh or suryavansh dynasty of Thakur.

He constructed the township and fortress of Bhadaura on the banks of the river Uttangan, in present day Ater tehsil. There is some confusion as to the actual date of construction, with vansavali writers accepting 832 AD while British historians R.Smeaton and W.H.L. Impey estimate 820 AD. It is from this celebrated Raja Bhado Rana and the village of Bhadauragarh that this branch of Chauhans came to be called Bhadauria.
Are Dikhit thakurs a branch of Sisodiya clan?many of my elders told that dikhits were send by the sisodiya to collect money,raise army and create awareness against the mughals during the time of maharana pratap.as they preached a lot they were given nick name as dikhit.my gotra is bharadwaj of Dikhit thakur but due to recent findings by a writer they tell its Kashyap gotra coz of the region where we live.but my ancestors used bharadwaj gotra since ages.please clear my doubt about my gotra and about dikhit thakurs.i am from fatehpur district UP.

I am also from Gahmar. We (Sikarwar) are the branch of most ancient Rajput clan Bargujar(Raghav). We are one of 36 main clan of rajputs. Our gotra is sankriti/sankritya in ghazipur,buxar,rohtash & arrah. Bhardwaj in chambal morena & Agra. We use to worship Maa Kamakhya.
Please note that Gahmar is largest village of Asia & of Rajputs as well. Dominated by Sikarwar Rajputs. There are many village of Sikarwar rajputs in ghazipur, buxar, bhabhua,rohtash & bhojpur (arrah) district. There is a chaurasee (group of 84 villages) in bhojpur district.

Bhai my name is SHALENDRA PRATAP SINGH DIKHIT. We are not sisodiya Rajputs. But we are of solar rave, Suryavanshi like sisodiya, rathor ,kacchwaha Rajput. DIKHIT Rajputs main gotra is kashyap but Dikhit Rajputs have other gotra as bhardwaj , kausik etc. Depending on the region.
as i know kalhans are never known as mainstream rajputs

Hello ,I am Vikram Singh from (atta) Paraspur district gonda.i am also a kalhans thakur.when I did some research on the rajput clans and mainly on kalhans Thakur I found that kalhans Thakur is coming under pratihara vansh which is a clan of ichvakuvansh or suryavansh dynasty of Thakur.
